Sprinkler Head Extensions
Brass sprinkler head extensions are used in a fire sprinkler system to extend fixed nipples (drops) that have been cut too short to place the sprinkler head at the proper working height — typically where mild variations in drop ceiling height cause sprinklers to sit too far into the ceiling.
Brass sprinkler head extensions are used in a fire sprinkler system to extend fixed nipples (drops) that have been cut too short to place. Usually, a drop nipple has been cut too short to accommodate variations in drop ceiling height. They are designed to correct sprinkler head elevation without removing or re-cutting the sprinkler drop.
Brass Extension Nipples
They are machined from forged brass bar stock and have a knurled exterior, allowing hand tightening of the extension nipple into the fitting or onto the fire sprinkler.
A sprinkler head extension, or a sprinkler riser extension, allows you to raise a sprinkler head from the top instead of the bottom. This can be useful if your sprinklers are too low or if you want to water taller plants and shrubs.
The sprinkler extension occupies a small space between the sprinkler and the pipe fitting. It is designed to correct sprinkler head elevation without removing or re-cutting the sprinkler drop.
Sprinkler extensions are designed to provide the system designer and installer with a degree of flexibility in pipe placement and sprinkler installation. Available in 1”, 1-1/8”, and 1-1/4” lengths, the sprinkler extension fills small amounts of space between the sprinkler and the pipe fitting, helping to prevent unnecessary pipe fabrication and ensuring proper sprinkler placement in relation to the finished ceiling.
